INSTRUCTOR: JIM BUCK
Jim has been an avid gardener since childhood when he asked for plants as birthday gifts. He worked at a nursery during high school learning more about plant propagation, plant diseases, and nutritional needs.
As a former school principal, Jim involved the entire school in restoring and certifying acreage behind the school as a wildlife habitat. He has a strong interest in native plants and their uses by indigenous tribes. Jim volunteers at Tsuru Island Japanese Garden and coordinates a community garden in Gresham. He also serves on the Urban Forestry Subcommittee for the city of Gresham. His perennial garden at home contains more than 150 different plant species. When not gardening, he enjoys cycling, wood turning, traveling and hiking.
